Forum Seafood @ Boat Quay, Singapore

3-star2
DSC02774
We walked quite a while, searching for something simple for our dinner in the city of Singapore. Along the Boat Quay road, you will see there are lots of seafood restaurants and their staff standing roadside approaching customers. There were many tourist like us looking for foods while enjoying the view and lots of local people who had finished their works and enjoying their happy hours at pubs.

Most of the restaurants hard selling their foods and prices, even offering discounts up to 30% and free drinks, can you imagine how competitive along them. The crabs they were selling varies in type, but most of them sell Sri Lanka crabs, looks good but we didn’t try for this time.

We had decided to have our dinner at the Forum Seafood Restaurant which is located nearly at the end of the Boat Quay road.  I guess they were still having some renovation outside their restaurant.
DSC02780
Is kind of good view and comfortable here. We seated at the river side, is Singapore River side. In front are few well-known banks buildings, especially UOB bank, a Singapore bank which its buildings are huge.
DSC02781
Seafood Fried Rice

As that time was quite a late night, so we just had some simple foods as dinner. Quite fast in serving, but is quite small in plate. This fried rice was yummy, just a bit salty. Obviously, it had prawns, some meats, scallops, and others.
DSC02783
Fried Seafood Noodles

Fried noodles with seafood, quite a small plate as well. Inside this dish, had prawn, mushroom, scallop, fish meat, vegetable and squid. A lots of ingredients inside, but the sauce was too sticky and taste moderate.

We had been offer 30% discounts and free soft drinks for the first round, plus 10% service charge and 7% government tax, total cost us SD27.07. If not converting into Ringgit Malaysia, I think this is acceptable, but if you did convert to RM, then I will say is very expensive for just two small plate of “simple dinner”. It is better get more comments and suggestions online or from friends before visiting there again.

Wildlife Experience in Singapore Zoo

I guess most of us at least have once experience visiting zoo. The very first time I been to the zoo was during my primary school , one day trip to the National Zoo. When I was young, my impression to the zoo was boring, a bit smelly and nothing to see (possibly I was too short). During the school trip, what impressed me was not the animals, but the KFC fast food restaurant inside the zoo. Hastily random walk a while, I went inside the restaurant to enjoy the delicious fried chicken meal, and after then walked back to the entrance to wait for time to go back.
After a interval of twenty years, I visited a zoo again, but this time I had went for Singapore national Zoo. Well, at first I was not quite interested to go, but since had token long  hours of train from Malaysia to Singapore, no harm to have a look on it.

The Singapore Zoo, formerly known as the Singapore Zoological Gardens and commonly known locally as the Mandai Zoo, occupies 28 hectares (69 acres) on the margins of Upper Seletar Reservoir within Singapore's heavily forested central catchment area. The zoo was built at a cost of S$9m granted by the government of Singapore and opened on 27 June 1973.  (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore_Zoo)
Singapore zoo is among the most famous and excellent zoo in the world, which make it received a lots of accreditation and accolades.

Coincidentally the day we visited the Singapore Zoo was school holiday, so we saw lots of students wearing school uniforms everywhere and some family who taking their children to visit the Zoo. From the first step I step into the zoo, it really started changing my impression on how a zoo look like.

Before we reach the ticket counter, there were some “animals” waiting for us.:

Rights into the zoo now. The first step into the zoo, it give a feeling of comfortable, feel like really came into a forest, because there are plants everywhere.
DSC02528
DSC02509
It is large inside, with different types and themes: Australian Outback, Wild Africa, Cat Country, Primate Kingdom and etc. What was great was there will be some of the zoo’s staff using broadcasters to introduce and explain some animals and their hobbits to the visitors from the time to time.  In specified period of time, there will be some special shows and feeding animals performances. Let us have a look on some selected special photos :

If not mistaken, I think this is Siamang, with white face coarse tail.

Cute, what a lovely couple.
DSC02609
I guess this elephant should be quite old, see its skin and hairs!

DSC02633
Komodo Dragon eat a lot, a Komodo Dragon with weight of 46kg can eat up to 41kg of wild boar, which equal to 90% of its weight. We as human normally daily’s eating volume is only 3% of our body weight, so I guess we should call this Komodo dragons as a “Big Eaters” . Well, I think this Komodo Dragon was quite thoughtful to the visitors, as its pose was not much changes although I went and pass by few times, it still not moving. Maybe it wanted visitors to take a better photograph of it?
In this Fragile Forest,we can have closer contacts with these animals, is kind of fun:DSC02653
What a little “ride roughshod”, please take note this is the pavement for human!!
DSC02672
The Flying Foxes hanging on the trees.
DSC02658
Another gang who love to “ride roughshod” --- Ring-tailed Lemur. The male ring-tailed lemurs would use their unique tails to attract females attentions. This kind of ring-tailed lemurs can only be found in Madagascar.
DSC02663
Hei brother, don’t you think the way you sit is a little bit rude here?
DSC02692
Squirrel Monkey – do not underestimate this little thing, its action can be very agile, is really difficult to catch a photo of this little squirrel monkey.

DSC02747
Most looking forward was the Polar Bear show. Polar bear has strong sense of smell which is the most sensitive among all other type of bears, where it can sniff out traces of seal from 64km away. Besides that, polar bear’s height can up to 3m high, which is twice of my height!!

We had spend 4 hours in the zoo, although tired but I really learned a lot from this trip, and was my right decision to visit the Zoo Singapore. Too bad we didn’t have time to go for the Night Safari, maybe next time if there is any opportunity, surely I will try on this fun night adventure.

T.G.I. FRIDAY’S @ The Curve

4.5-star2
DSC03125
This was my first time dining in FRiDAY’S, after so many recommendations from friends. While I was waiting to be seated, saw there were some people singing birthday sound loudly and joyfully. Have a closer look on it, those who singing are the FRiDAY’S staff, they are enjoying and celebrating birthday with customers. What a  warm and pleasant staff and environment here.

There are lots of decorations everywhere in the restaurant, and you can spend your time in looking on these while waiting for your foods.

Strawberry Surprise
For soft drinks, you allowed to refill as many times as you wish.
Something good for weekdays, where you may order for 2 course meals with just RM 29.90, sound great to me. Of course there are just some limited choices for you, but still worth if the choices are your favourites.
DSC03096
Fried Mac & Cheese
DSC00835
Inside the Fried Mac & Cheese
Quite special to me, there were some creamy cheeses and elbow noodles inside it, and you may get full after you ate all of these.
DSC03107
Beef Bacon Cheeseburger
A beef burger covered with melted Colby cheese, crispy beef bacon with the classic fixings and served with crispy fries. This plate of burger is big and mean too big for a lady, but it quite tasty, just that the beef bacon was a bit dry.
DSC00838
Sizzling Chicken and Shrimp
Sautéed garlic marinated chicken breast and plump shrimp tossed with zesty roma tomato basil salsa. Served with onions and peppers and some cheddar cheese mashed potatoes on a sizzling platter of melted Colby and Jack cheese.
Shrimps are springy, and pretty good for the chicken meat, just that may a bit of greasy because there are lots of cheeses here. It was quite a large plate.
DSC00843
Chicken Ranchero Tacos
DSC00844
Inside the Tacos
Tender slow simmered chicken mixed with spicy Ranchero tomato sauce, Monterey Jack cheese stuffed in soft tortillas and topped with some corn, black bean pico de gallo and shredded cheese.

You may choose to be served with a choice of Roasted Potatoes and Peppers, Grilled New Orleans Corn Cob or Herbs Rice. Here we choose Roasted potatoes and peppers, moderate rating.
DSC00839
Fish & Chips
Three portions of fish filet battered and fried to golden brown, served with fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. The fish filet really big comparing with others restaurant, taste fresh and crispy.
DSC03117
Garlic Marinated Grilled Lamb Chops

This was the plate that we had been waited for quite some times.
Lamb chops marinated with garlic, seared to medium, which is my bro’s favourite. Serve with demi glace, beef bits, seasonal vegetables and cheddar cheese mashed potatoes.

Medium cook was just nice, as the meat was still tender and soft. The vegetables were tasty with some sauce on it.
DSC03120
Chocolate Oreo* Mint Crunch & Tropical Delight
Lastly, some desserts, very small cup but is just nice after some large plate of meat.

Chocolate Oreo, was yummy, it was a small cup of chocolate mint custard covered with crunchy Oreo cookie.

For the Tropical Delight, scrumptious coconut custard sprinkled with toasted coconut flaske and pieces of fresh sweet pineapple. It was something special to me, it has some pineapple in it, was not sour but sweet.

Foods were served pretty fast, even there were many customers on the day we visited, but if you still haven’t get your food after some while or after seeing your friends finished theirs’, you better check your order, as one of our order was being left out. Pity my bro waiting there for nothing but just seeing us to enjoy our meal. But some points add on here: the person in charge I guess, when he get knew on this, he quickly send a bowl of soup for him as compensation, and my bro can choose what soup he like, so envy of him.
DSC00847
Mushroom soup
Well, some disappointment: there was a small sticker on the plate of Chicken Ranchero Tacos, which may swallow it accidently if unrealised, but we didn’t complaint on this to the manager.
DSC00846 DSC00845
Total  RM 201 for five of us. In this kind of environment, locations, foods deliciousness, services, staff warm and kindness, I will say it is worth.
